Simple and Feminine Spring Decorating Ideas 2020: The Garden
I’m so excited the Spring is around the corner! This week I went a little crazy designing fresh mood boards for the house, including one filled with Spring garden decor ideas. The mood boards utilise simple and feminine ideas. The ideas can be implemented in any colour scheme and have a country vintage theme. They incorporate florals, pretty colour schemes and lots of green and white. Because isn’t Spring all about the green? Anyway, I thought it might be fun to share some of them with you, beginning with my outdoor decorating thoughts and the sources if you’d like to create a nook like this in your garden.
Spring Garden Mood Board
Like most of my mood boards, I start with some form of inspiration. This could be a pattern, a piece of furniture or, in this case, a photo. I love the pretty layering of roses in this picture and the mixture of containers used to house them. I’m not usually one for pink in decorating but it spurred me on to think of how I could bring this colour onto my verandah this year.
To begin my Spring decorating, I’d choose a colour palette of blush, peach and olive. There are so many plants that fit into this theme, not just roses. The colours easily be introduced with a simple bunch of flowers on a table or blossom stems cut from a tree in a galvanised bucket. They could also be used for soft furnishings and linens if you wanted to carry the theme that far. Imagine your friends coming for lunch and finding the table set in this pretty way.
For the table, I envisage a delicate bistro setting like this one from Ikea. At $55 it would make a stylish, french country inspired addition to your verandah, porch or garden.
I also envisage an overflow of pink peonies or potted pink geraniums layered on the deck (because there’s no way Mr GGF will let roses into the house. Geraniums might even be a stretch.) It’s hard to do this on a budget in Australia as plants are not cheap to buy but annuals would work just as well an give a splash of your chosen colour. If you use old pots and baskets to house them the look would be simple yet charming.
Adding Vintage Country Charm to the Table
If you’re fortunate enough to have vintage linens and china on hand, creating a look like the one above would be easy. Using your chosen colour palette, you could add a simple white cloth and napkins. Team this with a mixture of pretty china you have on hand. Or purchase something like the Miranda Kerr range from Royal Dalton. I love the feminine vibe of this china. How cheery would it make your table?! You can find the pink tumblers I used in my mood board at Amazon AU. The vintage lines are perfect for anyone who loves old world charm.
Have I inspired you to think about creating a pretty nook outdoors this Spring? I know I can’t wait to get outside again.
