My Simple Spring Decorating Must-Haves 2020: The Kitchen

Today’s Spring decorating ideas are brought to you by the kitchen. In this mood board, I’ve channelled my inner cottage core and brought back the tiny print wallpaper from the ’80s! This kitchen design (including my must-haves for the season) might be a little feminine for you or a bit pink but hopefully, it will spark some ideas for simple changes you could bring into your kitchen this Spring. Below are ideas on where to source similar items in Australia, if you’re looking to give your kitchen a pretty revamp.

Freshen Up Your Spring Decor with Tea Towels

Tea towels are an obvious choice for livening up the kitchen. A must have for this season are vintage style tea towels in whimsical patterns and soft colours. Tea towels are inexpensive and functional. They can be easily changed to suit the season. The floral tea towels in my mood board are vintage and hard to source so I’ve collected a couple of new options below that I love.

These vintage style tea towels would be perfect for a Spring update. You can purchase them from The Linen Press in Australia. I love the Australian country vibe and pretty colours.

Timber Accents

No Country kitchen update would be complete without a stool. They’re useful to pull up to the sink or use as a coffee table. You can display a bunch of flowers on a stool or a stack of books. The Block Shop has a huge range of rustic stools. And I love that you can have them in the kitchen or move to any room of your home.

Pretty Wallpaper

Now, I’m not saying you should go out and wallpaper your entire kitchen for Spring. (Unless you want to.) Spring decorating can be as simple as putting a pretty piece of wallpaper in the back of a cabinet or adding some peel and stick to shelves. Waverly creates the most beautiful country style options but if you want a cost effective option have a look at these wallpapers from Norwall. Lining behind a shelf or up to a dado rail would look so amazing and very vintage.

Linen Ruffles

You know how into ruffles I am this season, so I think it’s time to add some to the kitchen. A linen tablecloth or runner would be perfect for a casual kitchen table. It would also add whimsy and charm, elevating the normal tablecloth. These ruffled tablecloths from Wonderlinen on Etsy are my current favourites.

Ruffles could also be added in the form of tie top curtains, or tea towels. If you’d like to know how to make a tie top curtain with a ruffle, this tutorial will show you how.

Vintage China

If we’re talking florals and romance for Spring decorating, why not get out the trios of cups, saucers and plates your grandma left you. This year in the kitchen, I’m focussing on pre-loved pretty china in delicate patterns to compliment my plain white setting from Casa Domain. This post on how I’m planning to decorate our verandah will give you more information on the type of china and glassware I’d like to bring into the farmhouse this Spring
