Delicious and Easy Baked Cinnamon Apples

If there’s one thing I love about the cooler weather it has to be the opportunity to eat freshly picked apples. Not to mention all the yummy spices and warming food you get to eat at this time of the year. In this post, I’m sharing with you a quick dessert you can make for a cold Autumn evening. These baked cinnamon apples are simple and rustic. The sugar adds just the right amount of sweetness to the tart apple. But best of all, they smell divine when they’re cooking. I’d have them for that alone!

Ingredients For Baked Cinnamon Apples

  • 20g butter chopped
  • 8 apples. I used a mixture of what I had been gifted from a neighbour but Granny Smiths work wery well for this recipe.
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 all spice
  • 1 tbs brown sugar
  • 2 tbs raisins chopped
  • ice cream and cream to serve
  • maple syrup to serve (optional)

How to Make

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Core apples without cutting through the bottom. A melon baller works well for this.
  3. Roughly chop the raisins
  4. In a medium bowl mix brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins and allspice.
  5. Stuff the mixture evenly into each apple.
  6. Top with a knob of butter
  7. Place apples in a small baking dish. Cover the base of the dish with around 1/2 cup of boiling water
  8. Cover with aluminium foil. Bake for 30-40 minutes until apples are tender and the insides are syrupy
  9. Remove from the oven and spoon the juices over the apples.
  10. Serve with ice cream, cream and a dash of maple syrup
