Decor Books I Can’t Live Without
When I have a few moments to myself, there’s nothing I like more than a cup of coffee and a good decorating book. There’s so much inspiration to be gleaned from studying photos. It’s fun to imagine how something similar could work in our home. Over the years, I’ve collected many decorating and home books. Some of my original books have gone by the wayside. The ones with the more classic vibes are the ones I’ve kept. Some show how to. Others share ideas. But all the books celebrate my love for decorating and houses around the world. Here are the best decor books from my stash. My ‘go to’ books when I want ideas.
I love this book. It explores the emotional connection between the way we decorate our homes and our daily lives, a concept I’m drawn to along with functional decorating. Lauren tells readers to think beyond the objects in their homes and explore how design informs an intentional, happy, and authentic life.
LIZ MARIE GALVAN: COZY WHITE COTTAGE SEASONS
I have to admit I bought this as soon as it came out. I have the original book and love how both books give easy-to-implement ideas. Cosy White Cottage Seasons is a wonderful reference guide for year-round decorating ideas. Not only that, it inspired me to paint my floors white!
NORA MURPHY’S COUNTRY HOUSE STYLE
This book is like my bible. I pour over it endlessly for inspiration. In fact, I totally blame Norah Murphy for the hours I spent on my knees in the dairy painting that checkerboard floor! If you are looking to create a country-style interior, this book should be your starting point. It’s one of the best decor books ever!
DOWNTOWN CHIC: COURTNEY AND ROBERT NOVOGRATZ
I credit this duo for my love of the eclectic. Having followed their reality show many years ago, I had to buy the book. (It cost me a bomb at the time).
If you want to know how to turn crap into a great home on a budget this book will inspire you for sure. You can see why I love out-of-the-box lighting just from the cover.
COUNTRY STYLE HOMES
Who doesn’t love any publication by the Australian magazine icon, Country Style? It’s always been my dream to feature in this magazine.
Sadly, this book is out of print now. But if you can find a copy get it! And this classic country book is a staple in my collection.
HILL HOUSE VINTAGE: PAULA SUTTON
This is my latest acquisition. I bought it for myself for Christmas 2021. Paula Sutton has that classic English country style. If you are also a lover of pretty tables, vintage china and creating a lived-in look with patterns you will love this book
