4 Inspiring Mantles for the Farmhouse in Spring

Farmhouse mantle decor doesn’t have to be all about filling it to the brim with everything you own. Layering and the ‘collected look’ might be a thing right now but you can have a beautiful mantle this Spring season with a few key pieces that you use well. The key is quality over quantity and using your decor in odd numbers. Yes, the good old Rule of 3!

I’ve collected five lovely mantles that showcase Spring decorating I love for my mantle. They’re simple, easy to copy or make your own with a few tweaks, depending on the accessories you already have. Because decorating should not mean you go and buy a bunch of stuff. It’s about expressing your creativity and creating a look you love. I hope these looks inspire you.

Simple Green and White

How easy and simple is this look from Thistlewood Farms? Even without the layering of the painted boards at the back, this would make a lovely mantle display. I have a couple of these cut-out trees and they add a lovely textural quality to any display. For me, this display would be elevated even further if the box plants were real, not faux. You could substitute lavender or daisies to give a more vintage feel to the arrangement too. I love to do this. Not only do you get a living arrangement that lasts longer than a bunch of flowers but after a few weeks indoors you can top up the plants in our garden and give it a boost too!

Farmhouse Mantle Decor Using Vintage Bottles

This look from Vintage Society Co is one I use a lot. A grouping of single Spring stems in vintage bottles en masse gives a modern nod to a simple idea. Last year, I put white mini carnations in amber bottles and the result was stunning. You could use any flower or coloured bottle that fits your decor. To think even further outside the box you could use a collection of similar jugs or vases, any vessel that’s linked by colour or material really.

Mass Displays of Flowers

The more flowers the better in my book! This mantle display would look perfect on a rustic or cottage mantle. The galvanised vessels and timber box add an unusual touch. The thing that works about this display and makes it cohesive though, is the similar colours of the flowers. The variation in height adds interest and the linking of orange and white toned flowers makes your eye want to travel along the mantle. Then, there’s the little surprise of the small bucket of eggs. While Decorating Simply has probably used this more as an Easter vignette, using eggs in Spring is perfectly acceptable in the southern hemisphere too. Imagine a row of pretty spotted quail eggs lining a kitchen mantle with a large vase of fresh-cut herbs!

Spring Farmhouse Mantle Decor without Flowers!

Shock, horror! Is there such a thing as farmhouse mantle decor without an abundance of flowers in Spring? You bet there is. The chic look of the mantle below is created without one single flower. It’s impact comes from the repetition of glass cloches (or bell jars) and the use of fern fronds. The symmetry gives an air of formality while still being very simple. It’s as if the owner of the went into her garden and picked a few sprigs to place on the mantle before we arrived. Notice also how terracotta, a material usually reserved for the outdoors has been used to add warmth to the display.
