12 Beautiful Country Style Verandah Ideas

Happy National Verandah Day!!! This idea started as a bit of a joke between me and an Insta friend but now it’s definitely a thing. So, in honour of this new national day, I’m going to share with you some gorgeous country style verandahs. Which ones do you love the most?

Most of these photos come from either Pinterest, where I’ve made a Country Style Verandah collection or from Homes To Love. (I love that website)

Country Style Verandahs in Australia

There’s no doubt that country style verandahs are part of the history of Australia. They range from so narrow you can only put a planter on to wide and covered like a Queenslander. The verandah is the epitome of outdoor living in our country. For us, the verandah provides shelter from the heat, a place to dry the laundry or to simply enjoy an elderflower gin after work. A country style verandah or porch can be where you put your boots on or the entrance to your home. So let’s show these often forgotten spots in our homes some love.

The rustic verandah is simple in its styling, functional and yet beautiful. It’s a true farmhouse verandah.

Verandah Materials

Verandahs can be made of brick paving, timber or stone. But natural materials are what make them country style.

There’s nothing better than being able to eat on the verandah with a view of the garden and an old beat up table showing years of gathering in it’s bones.

Not many of us are lucky enough to own an old house with a complete outdoor room. But this could be achieved in a newer build or extension.

French doors. . .

onto a verandah anyone? Nothing screams country more! I’d love to swap one of our windows for a set of doors onto the verandah.

Our back verandah was made wider at some stage. Now it has a multitude of functions. It’s possibly the ONLY good decision previous owners made.

A country verandah deserves country style furniture. How do you do that? Think worn. Lived in.

One thing I’d love on our verandah is a porch swing. Maybe I can bet Gavin to build me one?

Country style does not have to be old and rickety. This boho verandah has all the country elements done in a modern way.

This old verandah has an updated look with new, more modern furniture.
